Yoga at Valley Ayurveda
In addition to Diet and Bodywork, Yoga is one of the three pillars of Ayurveda supported at Valley Ayurveda. Yoga and Ayurveda are actually sister sciences, linked in the ancient Vedic scriptures of India, but somehow the link between them got a little lost when yoga came to the West. We want to help restore that connection for you by supporting your asana practice (the physical postures most often associated with "yoga"), pranayama (yogic breathing exercises) and meditation.
As a form of exercise, you can't beat a good asana practice. For stress-reduction, daily meditation can help put things in perspective. And regular pranayama oxygenates the whole body and calms the central nervous system. In fact, many benefits of yoga are documented in both the ancient texts and current medical research, including:
- improved flexibility, strength, coordination, muscle tone, endurance and balance
- increased range of motion and lubrication in the joints
- enhanced focus, concentration, clarity and attention
- improved mood, self-acceptance, social adjustment and overall well-being
- reduction in stress, anxiety, and sleeplessness
Of course none of these things will happen overnight (although you'll be surprised at how good you can feel after just one yoga class), so we aim to make it as easy as possible for you to add yoga to your weekly routine.
Workshops
Keep your eye on our calendar of workshops for upcoming events that feature yoga as a component.
Private Sessions
Sometimes it's good to get a little one-on-one time, particularly if you have specific physical issues that could use some extra attention. Book an appointment with a Yoga Specialist for an individualized session to help you refine your practice so that it best suits you in your journey to whole wellness.
As always, we're committed to helping you find out what works best for YOU. Be sure to let us know if there's another way we can help you work yoga into your life.
Please note: Valley Ayurveda is (regretfully) not handicap accessible, and the Program Room where we practice yoga is up two flights of stairs.
REMEMBER: We can always come to you!
