Joa received a B.S. in Health Education from The State University College at Cortland State in 1977. She was in the fitness field for eight years, where she learned about nutrition, diet and exercise and how to motivate people to take responsibility for their own health and well-being. She went to Massage School at The Connecticut Center For Massage Therapy in 1985 and has been a bodyworker for 25 years. She graduated in June 2010 from the Kripalu School of Ayurveda with a certification as an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant. She has been doing many of the Ayurvedic bodywork treatments for the past four years. She has studied Western Herbalism with Gail Ulrich and has taken workshops with Amadea Morningstar, Dr. Vasant Lad and Mother Maya Tiwari, now Swamini Mayatitananda. Joa also leads sound meditation circles with her husband, Julian, incorporating Vedic chants and sacred sound with voice and instruments.She has a passion for Ayurveda and educating people on the road to health.

Joa is available for appointments at Valley Ayurevda on Tuesdays, Fridays and by appointment.
